JULES "J" HEUMANN NAMED HONORARY CHAIRMAN OF PALO ALTO CONCOURS d'ELEGANCE We are pleased to announce that Jules "J" Heumann, Chairman Emeritus and one of the driving forces behind the success of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, has joined the Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance as its Honorary Chairman for the 2001 Concours. Mr. Heumann served as Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance for 28 years and continues to remain a very active member of the Executive Committee. Prior to that he and his co-director, Lorin Tryon, revamped the judging criteria and instituted a system whereby class awards would be determined by a team of expert Class Judges. Jules was a judge at Pebble Beach as well as an exhibitor, having won Best of Show in 1972 with his 1922 Hispano-Suiza H6B Labourdette Skiff\Torpedo. He also won The Most Elegant Car award in 1978 with his 1933 Hispano-Suiza J12 Van Vooren Faux Cabriolet. Mr. Heumann is know world-wide as an authority on and collector of Hispano-Suizas and was chief designer and co-owner of Metropolitan Furniture Corporation until his retirement. He is president of the Hispano-Suiza Society and was the first president of The Candy Store, a private car club in California. |
