  MARTIN SWIG, honorary chairman
  Mr. Swig spent 40 years as a multi-franchise new car dealer in San Francisco. An avid car collector, he began racing historic cars in the mid-'70s. Today he organizes various car tours, the best known of which is the annual California Mille in which drivers and co-drivers of 70 historic race cars are treated to 1,000 miles of California's best driver's roads over four days. Also, this year marks the 20th anniversary of his New Years Day 'Anti-Football Run', which enables owners of ±25 year-old cars to escape the barrage of college bowl games in favor of a 100+ mile drive through scenic Bay Area back roads.
  A long-time supporter of the Palo Alto Concours, he sponsors the "Forgotten Treasures" and "Mille Miglia" trophies awarded each year to esoteric vehicles. He also writes a monthly column for San Francisco's Nob Hill Gazette covering new cars and various aspects of the motoring hobby-life.
  Martin's wife, Esta, races an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato. His son, David, is also an able racer and emerging motoring photojournalist. His younger son, Howard, races in the Monterey Historics and has also participated, along with brother David, in the "24 Hours of LeMons".
  "It's great to be able to recognize Martin's contributions to our event in this way", says Hal Schuette. "He's one of California's true motoring enthusiasts, and has added to our success."

  JOE BRILANDO
  Joe Brilando is a venture capitalist and business consultant. He is on the Board of Directors of The Candy Store, a car club for concours, racing and rally enthusiasts. He is an active member of many clubs including the Ferrari Club, Automobile Club de Monaco, SCCA, Club Delahaye, and Hispano-Suiza Society. A tireless supporter of the Palo Alto Concours, he has created technically innovative Ferrari exhibits that are always well received.

  MARSHALL G. COX
  Marshall G. Cox has been an exhibitor, sponsor and most recently, Director of Sponsor Acquisition for the Concours. He has been a "car nut" for over 50 years, and although he has been reducing the size of his car stable, he still has some beautiful Aston Martins, Rolls Royces, Jaguars, etc. One of the original "Old Fairchild Guys", he is now semi-retired. He was the CEO of Intersil Inc. and Western Microtechnology He is presently Chairman of Cytori Therapeutics of San Diego, a public stem cell company and Honorary Chairman of Internix, Inc., a public company in Japan. He is a member of the Candy Store and belongs to many car clubs. He is also the creator of the Marshall G. Cox Family Foundation which presents the Cox Trophy to the "Most Interesting Post-War British Automobile" each year at the Concours.    Top

  DICK DeLUNA
  Dick DeLuna has been collecting antique, classic cars and automobilia for over 30 years. He has won numerous awards at most major concours, including Pebble Beach. Dick's collection, "The Toy Box", is an eclectic collection of classic, vintage and antique automobiles and automobilia. Dick collects what he likes and does not pay homage to any particular designer, manufacturer, time period or theme. He participates in the Monterey Historic Races, the La Carrera Panamericana, the Wine Country Classic, the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England and the Mille Miglia in Italy among others. Dick also enjoys touring in such venues as the California Mille, Colorado Grand and the C & D Jaguar Tour.

  BRIAN DOUGLAS
  Brian Douglas has driven everything with wheels during his career in the automotive technical, marketing and journalism professions. This depth of knowledge and ability to entertain and inform readers has served Brian well as contributing magazine editor and Associate Publisher of Sports Car International, automotive editor for Gentry and Ranch & Coast magazines, automotive talk show host at KNBR, guest correspondent at KGO radio and newspaper features writer for the San Francisco Examiner, Marin IJ, Asian Week, and Minneapolis/ St Paul Times Tribune. Douglas is also the automotive features writer for Pajamas Media.
  Douglas began his career in technical services and product management with major automotive parts manufacturers before creative management with advertising agencies. He has reported on the automotive industry for 25-years and founded the Western Automotive Journalists organization, serving as its first president. Douglas lives in Tiburon with his wife Kathleen.

  JOANNE FEDEYKO
  Joanne Fedeyko is the director of sales for Airship Ventures. Her team is responsible for managing the passenger experience aboard the Zeppelin Eureka as well as securing branding partners for advertising on the hull of the airship. She has earned her Certified Management Accountant designation and has worked with companies from a Big Five accounting firm, to a start-up telecom company, to executive director of a local non-profit. Joanne has also volunteered for numerous non-profit organizations and has been involved with many fundraising efforts. She is also an avid runner.

  ED GILBERTSON
  Ed Gilbertson is the Chief Judge of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, and Legend of the Motorcycle International Concours. He is also the Chief Judge Emeritus of the Ferrari Club of America and the Founder/Chairman Emeritus of the International Advisory Council for the Preservation of the Ferrari Automobile (IAC/PFA). He was also Chief Judge for the famed FF40 show in Brussels and was Honorary Chief Judge for the 60th Anniversary of Ferrari in Maranello, Italy. He also judged at the Louis Vuitton shows in London and Paris. He has been actively involved in concours judging for over 30 years and is a noted authority on preservation and restoration issues. The first time he judged was at the Palo Alto Concours in the 1970s and he served on the Advisory Committee for many years.
  Ed is also a member of the Pebble Beach Selection Committee and was a committee member for the recent Ferrari 250 GTO and Alfa Romeo 8C reunion tours. In addition to being a member of several marque clubs, he is an Honorary Member of the highly regarded Candy Store car club.     Top

  JULES "J" HEUMANN
  Jules "J" Heumann served as Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance for 28 years and continues to remain a very active member of the Executive Committee. Mr. Heumann was a judge at Pebble Beach as well as an exhibitor, having won Best of Show in 1972 with his 1922 Hispano-Suiza H6B Labourdette Skiff\Torpedo. He also won The Most Elegant Car award in 1978 with his 1933 Hispano-Suiza J12 Van Vooren Faux Cabriolet.
  Mr. Heumann is know world-wide as an authority on and collector of Hispano-Suizas. He was president of the Hispano-Suiza Society and was the first president of The Candy Store, a private car club in California.

  THOMAS KLEIN
  Thomas Klein. As Regional Vice President and General Manager of The Fairmont San Francisco, Thomas Klein manages the iconic San Francisco hotel and oversees the California Collection of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, including The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa, The Fairmont San Jose, The Fairmont Newport Beach and The Fairmont Miramar Hotel and Bungalows in Santa Monica. A seasoned hotelier, Tom has held leadership positions with Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts, Raffles International Limited and Ritz Carlton at world-class properties around the globe.
  Tom, an avid car enthusiast, has welcomed The California Mille, with its display of cars from the Palo Alto, and Gumball 3000 to The Fairmont.

  RON KIMBALL
  Ron Kimball is one of the most published automotive and animal photographers in the world. His work frequently appears on national magazine covers, including Time, Automobile, and AutoWeek. Ron's advertising photography is in national demand. In 2000 he created the cover for the 50th Anniversary Pebble Beach Concours program and their poster. He is a generous donor of special photography for the Palo Alto Concours. Ron has created many of the covers for previous editions of our Concours programs.

  TOM MATANO
  Tom Matano is presently the Director of the School of Industrial Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Previously, Tom worked 19 years for Mazda Motor Corporation where he held the position of General Manager in charge of Chief Designer Group and Global Advance Studios and is credited with the design of the popular Miata. Prior to joining Mazda, he worked for General Motors, GM Holden's and BMW.

  RAY PURPUR
  Ray Purpur is deputy athletic director of Stanford University. During his 14 years on "The Farm", Ray has supervised over $300 million in athletic and campus recreation facility projects. In recent years he managed the $104 million re-building of Stanford Stadium. Ray graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1987. He earned a master's degree from University of The Pacific in 1994 in Sports Administration. He and his wife Terrie and two children live on the Stanford campus.

  PHIL ROUSSEY
  Phil Roussey is a native of Detroit Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan where he received his degree in Electrical Engineering and worked for General Motors after graduation. His first new car was a 1965 GTO. Red of course. He took an engineering position at Texas Instruments in his early career and was transferred to the Bay Area.
  Phil was in the group of four people who founded Bell Microproducts in 1987. Bell Micro is a public company in technology distribution. Phil serves as EVP of WW Corporate Marketing for the company. Bell Micro has been a proud contributor to the Palo Alto Concours for the past 15 years and sponsors the annual People's Choice Award.

  ROBERT SHILLING
  Robert Schilling is currently the COO and a cofounder of Mayfield Bioscience, a Palo Alto based biotechnology company dedicated to reducing morbidity and mortality from urogenital cancers and HIV.
  An automotive enthusiast from a very young age, Robert's first restoration project, a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL, was an award winner in the 1982 Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance. Currently Robert serves as the President of the San Francisco Bay Area section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America and also holds seats on the Membership and Leadership committees for this national organization. Robert is also the founder of the very popular First Sunday Drives - monthly enthusiast drives held in the Bay Area on the first Sunday of every month.    Top

  CARL STEIG
  Carl Steig, of San Leandro, California, is a retired Caterpillar engineer, and has been an avid car hobbyist since 1964.
  His background includes: Classic Car Club of America, past National President and National Head Judge; Cadillac & LaSalle Club, past National President and current National Chief Judge; Pebble Beach Concours, Judge (30 years); and Hillsborough Concours, past Chief Judge and Honorary Judge.
  Carl enjoys working on his cars and has restored several Cadillacs and LaSalles. He owns two very rare Cadillac 1933 V12¹s, a town car and a 5-passenger convertible coupe. He and his wife, Ann Marie, have driven their 1941 Cadillac 60S sedan to, and participated in, numerous Classic Car Club of America CARavans, as far away as Maine and Alaska. He also owns an original, low mileage, 1974 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe.    Top

  TOM SUTTON
  Tom Sutton of Menlo Park is a lifelong motorsports enthusiast who has been involved in Northern California concours for at least 20 years. He served on the Executive Committee of the Ferrari Club of America Monterey National Meets in 1994 and 2004, and was in charge of the field crew for 10 years at Concorso Italiano. Tom was the Associate Executive Director of the Palo Alto Concours at Stanford for seven years, has volunteered as an SCCA concours judge, and has served in various positions at the Pebble Beach Concours. He is a member of the Porsche Club of America, the Shelby American Automobile Club, the Ford SVT Club, and the Ferrari Club of America. He is currently the Internet Director at Boardwalk VW and Lotus in Redwood City.    Top
