THE ART OF MANAGING SUCCESS
By: Gil Gilfix
Executive Director

One of the areas that will get lots of attention this year is food! Last year, one food service ended up serving four sites at the same time and, as you might expect, all suffered. This year our super staff guarantees a number of food services will be on the field selling many kinds of foods. We will also have beer, soft drink, and water vendors - another area where we were sadly lacking. Take my word for it. We have learned from the past!

Our theme for 1999 is "Bring the Family" and we've changed our ticket structure accordingly. Instead of a multiple pricing structure, we will have only one price. $15.00! And for every adult ticket sold, a child 16 and under is FREE!. Think back when you were 16 and where your first car came from. You can bet today's 16 year old won't have an old car to work on, to build into something special. So, Grandad, bring your grandson to the show, tell him those great old stories about reversing the bands in the transmission in that old Ford, and driving it backwards cause it was more fun that way. He won't believe you but, what the hey.
We're also working to manage the event schedule more efficiently. The high point of the day, to both entrants and audience, should be the presentation of awards. This year we added five major awards to the schedule and SCCA will also be presenting special awards to the winningest cars - one foreign and one domestic - in the 1998 season. All of the awards should conclude no later than 4:30 pm. Which brings me to the next point. Our audience is paying $15.00 a person to see one of the greatest displays of automobiles in northern California. This year, it is our firm expectation that entrants will remain in place until the Best in Show trophy is awarded. As a matter of fact, all gates will remain closed until that time. So, don't plan on leaving early, or if you have ordered a transporter to come on the field make it after 4:30. The best Concours in 'he country do this - and we will as well.

If you have access to a computer, please check our web site (www.paconcours.com). We've included information, updates and applications that can be pulled off using your printer.
We expect to send out applications starting in March this year. Separate applications will be sent to Packard and Porsche owners so be sure to check your mailboxes. If you own a
Packard or Porsche and didn't get the right application, let us know (650) 961-5444, or go to our web site, and, finally, talk to the weather gods. It's really important!
