CONCOURS DE CARING
Gently Used Cars for Sale

by Suzie Chapin

The used car sale, run by the MidPeninsula Hospice Foundation in collaboration with the Palo Alto
Concours, was a resounding success. Held on the soccer feld and open to all, it offered enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike the opportunity to view a fine collection of great cars.

There was the ancient Mercedes Roadster from the 1930Ős, the rare sleek Jaguar Coupe, and perhaps most resplendent of all, there was the fine old MGTD, owned by an elegant British woman. She held court on the field as she brought out her wicker hamper filled with a sumptuous picnic and set up her table, complete with table cloth to match the needle point upholstery in her MG! She certainly had a lionŐs share of the audience at her side, inquiring about the sale of her car!

Hospice had an offering of four fine used cars as well, with many interested buyers viewing the old machines, including a vintage Buick.

The MidPeninsula Hospice Foundation was pleased to be represented for the third year at the Palo Alto Concours. Hospice accepts cars year round and raises money through sales of donated used cars, so it was a good fit when Hospice was asked to oversee the Sale Lot. Proceeds from the sale of their used ears go directly to hospice patients and their families.
