MARQUES NAMED FOR THE 2008

PALO ALTO CONCOURS d'ELEGANCE AT STANFORD

CORVETTE has been named the American Marque and ALFA ROMEO chosen as the European Marque.

CORVETTE, last seen as a marque at Palo Alto in 2003, was chosen for a number of reasons: first, the tremendous response we receive from the local Corvette clubs; second, it's the 100th anniversary of General Motors, and finally, based on past experience, the huge audience response. Using SCCA judging rules, we will place 5 classses of Corvettes on the Concours field with the latest being 1982. A Corvette corral is also under consideration on a field adjacent to the main Concours field.

ALFA ROMEO, featured in 2002, will include 5 classes for 2008. Additionally, Alfa is planning a return to the US market and, hopefully, we will have a display of the latest offerings. As stated by the late Pat Braden, "an Alfa's appeal is not masculine: it is not a muscle car with brute power, nor does it fight you with heavy or unresponsive controls. An Alfa is subtle and refined: in a word, feminine. But the payoff from this is the genuine fun an Alfa Romeo puts into driving". A decision is still pending on the choice of judging rules at this time.
